Learn Meditation

You can learn meditation with relative ease, but learning it is one thing, while applying the knowledge and having the right tools is a whole different matter. Meditation learning process consists of several simple steps

  • Breathing
  • Relaxation
  • Concentration on the "here and now"

You can learn meditation on your own or through further reading from alternative sources, however the content and references on this website, should be enough to help you succeed. Since there are many different kinds of meditation techniques, you might as well begin by learning the basics of meditation first.

Probably because we live in a very materialistic world, I have noticed how many of us require an external stimuli before we begin to feel like we're doing something worthwhile. The following page will describe some of the common meditation aids, such as meditation cushions, timers and audio aids. All though these items are not indispensable for meditation, it's strongly recommended that you get them to improve the quality of your experience.

Meditation cushions:

Meditation PillowThe traditional meditations cushions are made of 2 parts :Zafu and Zabuton. People mistakenly call a meditation cushion - a meditation pillow. I always laugh, because a pillow is for sleeping, and meditation is relaxation , not sleep.When you're shopping for a good brand you should seek the one that's sturdy - you're going to be spending a fair amount of time on it. Meditation timer

Yoga TimerThe meditation timer's function is quite simple, it times you! The timer is useful because you have to spend a set amount of time on meditation, and a sound timer prevents you from opening your eyes to see time left- which would break your concentration. It's important to choose an appropriate meditation timer and not an alarm clock, since the loud buzzer alarms tend to ruin the meditation experience, which has to run smoothly from beginning, to the end.

Meditation audio

Yoga AudioWhen we refer to meditation audio it can be in a form of a meditation CD or Mp3 downloads. It can either be a guided meditation or theta wave music (brain wave synchronization). When we refer to guided meditation CD ,we usually mean a voice which guides you step-by-step during your relaxation (click here for an example), it describes what you are feeling and what you need to do next. Theta wave meditation audio is different (click here for an example), it's specially created music which sends 2 different frequencies in each ear, which in turn creates a special soothing effect in your brain. Meditation book

Yoga BookA good example of a well written meditation book is "The power of now". It's cheap and it's straight to the point. There is not much more to add on the subject, buy it ,read it, live it. It explains meditation for beginners and has easy meditation rules which need to be followed. It's good for people that are trying to learn how to achieve Nirvana- like deep , meditation stages.This book will give you that extra boost, to make things happen in life, and start doing so -now.
